Voorhees High School, a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School, consistently ranks among the top public high schools in New Jersey and the nation. Each year, students earn recognition as National Merit Semifinalists and Commended Students, AP Scholars, and other distinguished academic honors. Serving students in grades 9–12, Voorhees provides a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that includes College Preparatory, Advanced, Honors, and Advanced Placement courses designed to challenge and inspire learners at every level. Students may also earn college credit through the Seton Hall Project Acceleration Program and the Raritan Valley Community College Concurrent Enrollment Program.
As part of the Hunterdon County Vocational School District partnership, Voorhees houses the Environmental Sustainability and Computer Science Academies, as well as a component of the four-year Animal Science program. Students also have opportunities to participate in courses offered through Hunterdon County Polytech. An integrated approach to instruction emphasizes critical thinking and the development of students academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Voorhees is nationally recognized for its commitment to inclusion and belonging. The school’s Unified initiative and Unified Sports programs foster meaningful connections among students of all abilities and promote a culture of acceptance and equality. Voorhees became a National Unified Champion School through Special Olympics in 2018 and earned recertification in 2022. Most recently, the school became the first—and still the only—school in New Jersey to receive a third National Banner Unified Champion Schools designation, reflecting its sustained commitment to inclusive excellence.
Student life at Voorhees is vibrant and engaging. Students can participate in 35 clubs and organizations, including co-curricular programs, language clubs, and honor societies, as well as 14 academic competition teams that compete at the state and national levels. Eleven intramural activities provide additional opportunities for students to stay active and connected outside the classroom.
The Voorhees athletic program has a proud tradition of excellence. Viking teams have captured state championships in Boys and Girls Cross Country, Field Hockey, Cheerleading, and Baseball, along with numerous Skyland Conference divisional titles. Student-athletes have also achieved individual success at the state level and continued their careers at collegiate programs, including NCAA Division I institutions. Across all athletic programs, coaches strive to provide a positive and structured environment where students build skills, character, teamwork, and lifelong lessons through competition.
Comprehensive support services ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive. Special education programs include consultation, in-class support, resource replacement, employment orientation, and specialized programs for students with autism, multiple disabilities, and alternative learning needs. English Language Learners have access to specialized programming, while students in need of additional support benefit from Response to Intervention services, 24/7 online tutoring, and virtual tutoring opportunities with district teachers. Transition programs, including eighth-grade orientation and the Student High School Integration Program (SHIP), help incoming students successfully adjust to high school life.
Families play an important role in the Voorhees community through organizations such as the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO), Principal’s Parent Advisory Committee, Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG), Voorhees Music Association, and numerous athletic booster clubs. Parent programs and events throughout the year further strengthen the partnership between home and school.
As part of the North Hunterdon–Voorhees Regional High School District, Voorhees High School is committed to innovation, personal excellence, high achievement, and community partnership. Through a broad spectrum of exemplary educational experiences, the district empowers students to develop their fullest potential, embrace lifelong learning, and become responsible citizens prepared to thrive in a continually changing world. Approximately 85% of graduates pursue post-secondary education or military service, with many attending some of the nation’s most selective colleges and universities.
